WHAT TO DO IF YOU'RE IN AN ACCIDENT
First, check to make sure
you and your passengers are unharmed. Stay
at the scene of the accident but move as far off
the roadway as possible. Warn oncoming traffic
by using your hazard lights or setting flares.
Second, call the police to report
the accident.
Third, exchange important
information. Write down the name, address,
phone number and license number for all drivers
and witnesses. Also make sure to get the insurance
company and policy numbers of the driver(s) involved
in the accident.
Here are a few important items that can assist
you in case of an emergency:
- Spare tire (make sure the spare is checked
each time your tires are rotated)
- Jack
- Tool box with screw drivers, wrenches and
a small hammer
- Blanket
- Flares
- Empty gas can
- Insurance info
- Car registration
- Flash light with spare batteries
- Window scraper for ice
